(E)Motions in Reflections'

In varied cultures, in different continents & several millennials ago, stones gained value due to their physical characteristics or visual associations ( such as mirror-like reflection or water / galaxy-like appearance ). These qualities determined how, or for what the specific stone will be utilised. Some were used in ceremonies of divination, symbolic grave goods & some were even transformed into precious mirrors. The last required long & hard work, therefore mirrors were the possession of the elite alone, or were part of religious ceremonial sets. Such items were found amongst several cultures such as the Meso - American & the Egyptian.

These artifactual findings get intertwined here, with the tangible imagery & aesthetics of nowadays culture.

I wanted to bring those impressions to the now & the intimate site of the body.

Offering to explore the tension between visibility & reflection-between the act of seeing and the state of being seen .

See & be seen.
