BIO :

I was born, spent my childhood & youth in Israel.

A travel in my 20th year led to the decision to study the craft of jewellery in-order to fulfil a wish not to arrive again to a place with 'bare-hands'. Jewellery was the chosen discipline to gain 'making-hands', partly since  in essence, jewellery is a universally “fitting” gift - whether offered to someone else or to oneself.

The 1st educational engagement was to enrol to “Shenkar Collage of Engineering & Design” in Tel-Aviv, Israel, for a BA in jewellery design. Which was completed in 2006 with participation in the “Talente” exhibition in Munich, Germany.

It was followed by a couple of years of enquiries & contemplations how to broaden my views, capacities & more

.

To satisfy this desire, The Netherlands was picked as the next destination for a new chapter.

This experience stimulated the decision to continue to a 2nd educational commitment in Idar-Oberstein, Trier University for Science & Applied Art, Germany.

It was signed with a MFA in jewellery & (gem) stone, which was accompanied by a research about the matter of “Gift”. That triggered a growing-continuing interest into the subject of person-object relationships. & was closed by the Marzee graduation prize for 2015.

In the following years my deeds have broaden & since 2018 I am as well 1/2 of the duo - studio DO. A (gem)stone cutting atelier. 'Tickled' by stone as a material, its heritage & archetypical roles along the timeline of design.

Wieke Aerts & Dana Seachuga —--—--------------

didn’t study together, nor did they work together.

They simply met by chance, or what one might call pure coincidence.

A chain of unpredictable events ensured that both will share a common studio space

under one roof for the last 5 years, more or less.

Synchronicity… if you take it seriously or not, they ( Wieke & Dana ) have.

Both decided to consider this chain of events as not only favourable circumstances, but a sign of a chance that should be taken !

This duo-expo of contemporary jewellery and body related objects is the outcome of this decision.

It is an experiment.

How to bring together two diverse personalities,

without a unifying theme,

in a meshed confrontation.
